Should I get a shortish hair cut?

I have dark brown decently thick hair that is curly wavy. It is about 4 inches past shoulder length and when I was little I had straighter hair and it was all the way down my back, I could sit on it. SOoo I am used to longer hair. Do you think I should get a haircut that is a little bit past my chin??? Thanks! I am planning on growing it out and then deciding but I thought I would ask now too..... thanks! :))
