Gynecological exam ok in islam?

Ok so i don't want to be get graphic but i've been getting symptoms 'down there' that i think i should see a gynecologist for because i might have something wrong, however when i told my mother she told me not to as it could break my hymen and i won't be a virgin however i want to go get it checked out because what if i have an infection and don't treat it and it gets really serious that it might lead to infertility? is it ok if i see a female gynecologist? or is it not allowed as im a virgin..?
